Fun with Bullets*

1. Keith got paid yesterday. We have food. Yay! We have a rental car. yay. (I really hate paying for that but the nice guy Keith works with who has given him a ride is really going way out of his way to give him a ride to work so it's only a No Other Choice option.)

2. I'm on a quest to look for a transmission this afternoon for a 1991 Chrysler New Yorker 3.3L.
3. Keith spoke with the guys he works for on the weekend. There is hope, but only because 6'5" guys with 10+ yrs of bouncing experience aren't all that thick on the ground, you know?

4. Note to husband: Being a sex positive feminist doesn't mean I'm always horny. It means that I believe that grown folks have the right to have orgasms, alone or in consenting groupings of their choosing, however they wish. Just saying.

5. Related note: is there anyone who is sex negative? I mean, that just doesn't make sense.

6. Someone is reaching:
Now that John McCain has finally released his medical records, the issue of candidates' health should be put to rest, right? Not so fast. Barack Obama’s campaign has said at least some of his medical records would be released next week, and if complete, they may reveal some valuable information.

While voters should pick their candidate based on the issues, we have a right to know of any lurking health issues. Obama is young, active and looks great. But he has a documented history as a cigarette smoker. Not many people realize that even as a former smoker, he faces significantly increased risks of smoking-related diseases. These risks did not simply disappear when he quit smoking in February 2007. (Let me be clear, this is not an appeal to puritanical values — nor an endorsement of a candidate. This is about the long-term and sometimes irreversible consequences of smoking cigarettes.)
Seriously! Now, just for some contrast, let's see what John McCain's health records report, shall we?

John McCain, seeking to become the oldest elected first-term president, gets an in-depth skin cancer check every few months because of a medical history his own dermatologist calls "remarkable" for its number of dangerous melanomas.
...

Melanoma raises the biggest health concerns. McCain has had four separate spots of melanoma removed from his head and arm on three occasions - in 1993, 2000 and 2002. Three spots were very early stage, when they were in the uppermost skin surface and easily cut out.

...

But one, on his left temple in 2000, was invasive melanoma, what doctors call an "intermediate risk" melanoma because of its thickness - 2.2 millimeters. McCain required delicate surgery to remove and examine lymph nodes that showed no sign of spread.

...

McCain's most recent exams show a range of health issues common in aging: He had benign colon polyps removed during a routine colonoscopy in March, growths that are common with age and that sometimes turn cancerous unless taken out.

He takes medication to keep his cholesterol in check and just switched from the controversial Vytorin that made headlines this winter to a proven standby, simvastatin.

The Vietnam veteran has degenerative arthritis from war injuries that might mean a future joint replacement.

He's had kidney stones and in 2001 had his enlarged prostate reduced; it shows no sign of cancer, then or in his latest exam.

Oh, and the best little bit of hypocrisy?

And he [John McCain] was a two-pack-a-day smoker until quitting in 1980.

7. The Boy has tonsillitis. I was doing so well for awhile there, not calling into work and stuff. /sigh/

8. The floodgates are open and moms everywhere are telling the truth about being a mom. Can you imagine doing this job unwillingly? That is my reason for being pro-choice and it's a simple as that--I'm a mother; I've had two children; I know what it all entails and I truly believe that it is unimaginably cruel to force someone to do this job who doesn't 100%, enthusiastically, with-all-her-heart want to do it. It's a hard, all encompassing, expensive as hell, time-consuming and oftentimes disgusting job with very little tangible reward and no end. Ever. It doesn't get easier when they go from diapers to underwear, or when they go from elementary school to middle school and it damn sure doesn't get easier when they turn into teenagers. The difficulties are just different ones. And I already know that I won't stop being their mother when they are grown, seeing as how I rely on my parents for emotional and sometimes financial support when things get tough for me and I'll be 40 in the blink of an eye. The question, "Why are you pro-choice?" gets asked often enough. There's my answer. Being a mother when you want to be one is hard enough.

9. I think, if I were going to be an identity thief, I'd do it in Norway. Apparently, until I steal millions, it doesn't count.

10. Okay. Keith'll be calling in 45 minutes. I have to speak to a man about a transmission.

*And you thought I meant the lead kind, didn't you? Heh. I can see the disconnect what with the last post and all.
